COVID-19 Protocols for SLBC 2022
(Please check back for 2023 protocols as we get closer to summer)
Updated 6.28.22
This page will be updated as more information becomes available (if needed)
As always, the health of our campers and staff is our top priority and we are paying close attention to guidelines and recommendations related to COVID-19 safety and prevention.
Vaccinations
- With vaccinations approved for all ages, we strongly encourage campers to be vaccinated and boosted.
- We are excited to share that 100% of our staff are vaccinated. 🙂
Testing
- A negative rapid test is required to attend camp.
- In an effort to reduce the risk of campers coming to camp with Covid, we are asking that all campers rapid test twice before arriving at camp.
- Friday, July 15
- If you test negative, carry on
- If you test positive, please contact us immediately
- Sunday, July 17 before leaving for camp
- If you test negative, come to camp!
- If you test positive, please contact us immediately and do not come to camp
- Friday, July 15
- Like last year, we will be administering rapid tests at check-in upon arrival at camp. All campers must test negative.
Our approach to testing several times before camp is to do our best to ensure that campers arrive at camp healthy.
We will be operating camp with minimal masking requirements and similar to 2021, we will be focusing the majority of our activities in outdoor settings. Not only did we feel it was a safe way to hold camp, it brought us outdoors even more!
The following are some highlights of the modifications and requirements to camp operations for summer 2021. These policies will remain requirements regardless of vaccine or antibody status. We will continue to update this page as needed and notify registered campers via email.
Self-Quarantine
All campers and staff must self-quarantine for two weeks prior to the start of their travel to camp. Self-quarantine should begin on July 11.
During quarantine, campers and staff should restrict contact to members of the household only. There should be no physical contact with anyone outside of the household unless absolutely necessary.
Covid-19 Testing Prior to Camp
Approximately 2-5 days prior to departing for camp, all campers and staff must complete a PCR COVID-19 test and submit the results to camp. Campers and staff must provide proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test from this timeframe in order to travel to camp.
After a test is conducted, the camper or staff should have no contact with anyone outside of their immediate household.
If a camper or staff exhibits COVID-19 symptoms in the 14 days prior to camp, tests positive for COVID-19, or has COVID-19 symptoms during their intake exam prior to departing for camp, they will not be permitted to join us at camp.
Traveling to Camp
SLBC does not provide transportation to camp.
Campers should not travel to camp with individuals who are not members of their household. Exceptions can be made in the case of campers carpooling to camp with other campers who will be in their camp cabin pod.
Arrival at Camp
Upon arrival, campers’ temperature will be taken to ensure it is below 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit and will be asked a series of COVID-19 screening questions.
During Camp
When possible, all camp activities will be held outdoors.
Outside, Masked & Distanced — 2 of 3
The most important philosophy that we have adopted to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19 at camp is to be two of three: outside, masked, and distanced.
Cabin Pods
When a cabin is together as a group or in their own cabin, masks are not required. When other cabin pods are present, each cabin should put on their masks and observe social distancing guidelines as quickly as possible.
